The Kids from Yesterday

Blow a kiss at the methane skies
See the rust through your playground eyes
We’re all in love tonight.
– “S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W”, My Chemical Romance

There we were, killing
time as if nothing else mattered.

Seesaws, carousels, slides careless
about getting our hands, clothes soiled.

We never relied on watches, calendars, alarms
that stop our stories short of a happily ever after.

There we were, when we saw the sea, and all around
the mist and breeze, the steep slopes of mountains. There

we took our pictures, point and shoot. The camera took our time smiling
and when the photo was developed, I know I already had my happy ending.
