Nicko graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with the degree he wanted: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Specialization in Interactive Multimedia and Games, with Minor in Filipino Literature. He is a fellow of the 16th Ateneo-Heights Writers’ Workshop in 2010 and the 11th Ateneo National Writers’ Workshop in 2012, and his works have appeared in Heights, Matanglawin, and others. He was also a recipient of the Loyola Schools Award for the Arts in Creative Writing (Category: Poetry) on its 20th year. He missed the academe and research work so much that he gave up his junior game programmer job in Taguig, taught and researched in Ateneo from 2014-2016.

He dreamed about riding the airplanes that hover above him when he takes a bus from Laguna to Manila. He wanted to make it happen again, so he dreamed some more. He is now getting another degree that he has always wanted: a Master’s degree in Information Science at Nara Institute of Science and Technology in Japan.

He loves to stare, gaze, and stargaze. Follow him at @nickocaluya on Twitter,  nickocaluya on Instagram, or on his official website here.
